On a finger exercise, why do we mix up the order of the notes we play?
This is so that our fingers can get used to playing with ‘4 fingers over 4 frets’ in any order.
On the 2nd riff (Satisfaction), we see a ‘tied note’ (the number 5). What does this mean?
A tied note is where you carry the note (rhythm) over to the next bar. This means that the (5) in brackets is actually still the same 5 as before the bar/line.
What fingers should we use to play ‘Feel Good Inc’?
Our first and second fingers.
In the song ‘Yellow Submarine’ by the Beatles, we learn how to do a quick transition between the G and the D chord. How does this work?
We keep our 3rd finger down, as we change chords.

What is the definition of a scale?
A scale is a set of notes that move up or down in order, in pitch.
What can scales be used for?
Scales are used primarily for solos and improvisation. They can also be used to create melodies and embellish chords.
What happens to a scale if you change the starting (root) note?
The scale will change key if you move the starting note to a different letter (pitch). For example, if you start on the letter G (fret 3, E string), then you will now be playing in the key of G.
