Chemotherapy and radiotherapy
Risks associated with treatment of Hodgkin’s lymphoma?
Chemo - leukaemia and infertility
Radiotherapy - cancer and damage to thyroid tissue
Ann Arbor staging
1 - one region of LN
2 - 2 regions, same side of diaphragm (above or below
3 - LNs affected above and below the diaphragm
4 - non-lymphatic organs affected (lung, liver)
Examples of non-hodgkin’s lymphoma
Burkitt’s
MALT
Diffuse large B cell lymphoma
What is asssociated with Burkitt’s lymphoma
EBV HIV malaria
What is associated with MALT?
H pylori infection
How does diffuse large B cell lymphoma present?
Large rapidly growing painless mass in >65s.
How do you differentiate between Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma?
LN biopsy - present very similarly.
Management of non-hodgkin’s lymphoma
Watchful waiting Chemoo Rituximab Radiotherapy SC transplant
