lymphatic trunks Flashcards
2 sets of lymphatic vessels collect lymph from lymphatic capillaries
superficial lymphatics
deep lymphatics
superficial lymphatics
situated superficially
deep lymphatics
accompany deep arteries and veins
superficial and deep lymphatics converge to
lymphatic trunks
lymphatic trunks empty in to
thoracic duct
right lymphatic duct
thoracic duct collects lymph from the
body inferior to the diaphragm
left side of the body superior to the diaphragm
the base of the thoracic duct is a sac like chamber called
cisterna chyli
cisterna chyli receives lymph from
inferior parts of the abdomen
the pelvis
lower limbs through right and left lumbar trunks and intestinal trunk
the thoracic duct passes posterior to the
diaphragm along aorta
ascends along the left side of the vertebral column to the level of left clavicle
the thoracic duct collects lymph from
left bronchomediastinal trunk, left subclavian trunk and left jugular trunk
the thoracic duct empties in to the
left subclavian vein near the left jugular vein
the right lymphatic duct is formed from
right jugular, right subclavian, and right bronchmediastinal trunks near the right clavicle
the right lymphatic duct empties in to the
right subclavian vein
lymphoid tissues are
connective tissues dominates by lymphocytes
example of lymphoid tissues are
tonsils
