  1. HLA - DR2 and HLA - DR3 genetic predesposition

Pathophysiology of SLE?

A
  1. Type III hypersensitivity - antibody/antigen complex deposits on skin, kidneys, joints
  2. Type II hypersensitivity -IgG and igM against antigens in cells

What is the most common clinical presentation of SLE?

A

Skin > 70% of cases is affected

  1. Malar rash (butterfly rash)
  2. Photosensitivity
