A
- 20 - 40 years female

Etiology of SLE?
A
- HLA - DR2 and HLA - DR3 genetic predesposition

Pathophysiology of SLE?
A
- Type III hypersensitivity - antibody/antigen complex deposits on skin, kidneys, joints
- Type II hypersensitivity -IgG and igM against antigens in cells

What is the most common clinical presentation of SLE?
A
Skin > 70% of cases is affected
- Malar rash (butterfly rash)
- Photosensitivity
- Joint involvement

A
- Malar rash / butterfly rash sparing nasolabial folds
- Discoid rash - erythematous raised patches
- Photosensitivity
- Oral ulcers
