Lung Neoplasm Flashcards
4 major cell types of Lung Ca
Small Cell
Non-small cell
Squamous cell
Large cell
Distinguishes SCLC from NSCLC
Presence of neuroendocrine markers
CD56, NCAM, synaptophysin, chromgranin
MC histologic type of NSCLC
Adenocarcinoma
Most commonly associated with heavy tobacco use
Squamous and small-cell carcinomas
Favorable subtype of invasive non-mucinous lung adenocarcinoma
Lepidic
poor: solid predominant, micropapillary
Lack EGFR mutations, have strong KRAS mutation
Invasive mucinous lung adenocarcinoma
Local extension of a tumor growing in the apex of the lung + 8th cervical, 1st and 2nd throcic nerve involvement + shoulder pain radiating in the ulnar distribution of the arm + radiologic destruction of the 1st and 2nd rib
Pancoast Tumor
usually coexist with Horner’s syndrome
