Q

What are some possible complications of small cell carcinoma?

A

Rapid growth and early metastasis may produce endocrine or nervous system paraneoplastic syndromes.

(eg ADH, ACTH, or Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome)

Lamber Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome- antibodies against presynaptic calcium channels leasding to muscle weakness

Describe the histology of Carcinoid Tumors

A
  • Well Differentiated neuroendocrine cells (nests)

- Chromogranin positive

17
Q

Describe the location of Carcinoid Tumors

A

Central or Peripheral

When Central, classically forms a polyp like mass in the bronchus

18
Q

What are the most common sources of metastasis to the lung?

A

Breast and Colon Carcinoma

19
Q

Describe the location of metastasis to the lungs

A

multiple cannon ball nodules on imaging
