A

1. Lifeboat partially in water, but hydrostatic interlock not engaged
2. Operate on load release
3. Reset and examine
OFF LOAD:
1. Boat fully wateborne and hydrostatic interlock activated
2. Release
3. Reset and check
FREEFALL:
1. Read manufacture’s instructions
2. Attached simulate launch gear
3. Operate hook
4. Reset and check hook

A
  1. Boat bowsed on embarkation deck
  2. Loaded at embarkation deck to 1.1x loaded capacity
  3. Boat unbowsed
  4. Boat lowered on brake until max decent is reached - brake sharply applied
  5. Pause check position of boat held at least 1m above water
  6. If space permits, repeat before water
  7. Boat lowered so keel just touches the water and hydrostatic interlock not engaged
  8. Minimum operating crew board boat via another and operate on load release gear
  9. Remove weights
  10. Hooks reset and falls attached
  11. Hooks checked just above water and boat hoisted empty (no persons)
  12. Once boat in stowage position, all parts are checked for damage

LSA - describe the process of conducting the 5 yearly annual test (boat and davit tested seperately)

A
  1. Remove lifeboat or rescue boat using a crane
  2. Using water bags, load the davit to 1.1x max loaded weight of the boat and carry dynamic test
  3. While doing this measure the PEAK LOAD that happened
  4. Load weights onto the lifeboat or rescue boat to the peak load and lift the boat
  5. Release the hooks under 1.1x weight either by water bags on the hook or hydraulic ram if attached to the boat
