lower extremity nerves Flashcards
where does lumbar plexus orginate
L1-L4 with some t12
which nerves originate from the lumbar plexus
lateral femoral cutaneous, genitofemoral, femoral and obturator
where does the femoral nerve originate from and what does it innervate
it comes from L2-L4 through lumbar plexus
innervated anterior thigh. quads, pectinous, sartorius and iliopsoas
where does the obturator nerve originate from and what does it innervate
it originates from L2-L4 through lumbar plexus
it innervates the medial thigh which includes the adductors Magnus, brevis, longus , obturator externus and gracilis
The sacral plexus originates from what vertebrae
L4-S3
Where does the sciatic nerve originate from and what does it innervate
It is from L4-s3
it innervates the posterior thigh including the hamstrings and popliteus. it also innervates the whole foot and leg
which nerves does the sciatic nerve split into and where does it split?
it splits into the tibial and fibular nerve. This split can happen anywhere between the sacral plexus and the popliteal region.
where does the tibial nerve originate and what does it innervate?
L4-s3
it innervates the hamstrings, popliteus, posterior leg and the plantar part of the foot. Most of intrinsic muscles
where does the common fibular nerve originate from and what does it innervate.
it orginates from L4-s3
it innervates the biceps femoris short head, fibularis muscles, tibialis anterior and all toe extensors.
