Q

How did Pasteur develop the Germ Theory?

A
  1. In the 1850s he was asked by wine producers to find out why their alcohol went sour.
  2. He used a microscope to discover microorganisms were making the alcohol sour.
  3. He discovered that if any liquid was heated , the germs would be killed (pasteurisation).
  4. He invented the ‘S’ shaped glass to stop air and dust from getting to the alcohol. He then realised that germs must be in the dust.
  5. He then proved that germs caused illness and disease in humans.
