A

Monitor BP, ECG, and pulse; Monitor I & O and daily weight; and watch for signs of heart failure such as dyspnea, crackles, weight gain, or edema. Withhold medication if HR is less than 50

Family/Patient teaching

A

Do not abruptly withdraw the medication. Instruct patient and family how to take pulse and BP. Change positions slowly to minimize orthostatic hypotension. Call MD if a slow pulse, difficulty breathing, wheezing, dizziness, confusion rash, fever, or unusual bleeding occurs.
