A study which is conducted over long periods of time to observe long term effects

What are advantages of longitudinal studies?
A
Control participant variables- Uses a repeated measures design, the same people are tested

What are disadvantages of longitudinal studies?
A
Attrition- participants drop out over the course of the study
People become aware of the of the aims, behaviour may be affected
Takes a long time to complete, can be difficult to finance
