There is better quality of life, more space for the money and and there are good transport links to the city

- students tend to move away for universities
- internet speeds are poor

As everyone is too tired to go there after commuting

By building more services there like a shopping centre

- locals are being pushed out due to lack of housing

- it has 1200 people
- it is for weather forecasting and analysis
- it has a large number of computers

- In 2003 moved to east Devon away from London
- brought £74 million to the area in a year
Why did the met office move to Devon?
- has a large land area to expand on
- 2/3 of Devon is considered natural beauty
- a new road infrastructure was built
- it’s 70 miles from central London but still accessible
How has the population changed in Devon due to the met office?

- there’s now a large tourist industry
- there is a high no. of retired people

- house prices are still 10x cheaper than London - Devon=£9 per sq foot and London = £90 per sq foot
