lo2 - 2.6 methods of overcoming challenges and barriers. Flashcards
methods to overcome barriers: values-based recruitment.
this allows candidates to ask questions, so staff within organisations can give examples of them showing good/bad personalisation
- allows individuals to see if they have had a person centred approach to care and want them to help them support them.
methods to overcome barriers: using staff training
can help reduce staff turnover and help prevent job stress, as more staff can help confidence as they know what they are doing.
methods to overcome barriers: regular review of support provided.
- These are reviews of the care provided to know when the individual’s support is working or not
- The Individual, their family and professionals will be part of the review
- The outcomes of the review will be in the support plan.
methods to overcome barriers: recognising when provision is not person-centred and talking action rectify this.
- If after all these methods have been done, a member of staff is still not giving person-centred care (PCC), this can affect the provision of the service
- If staff do not support individuals to access their choices (Voice, etc.) then PCC may not be done. A way to overcome this is staff supporting individuals to access information
- Individuals may also feel not in control which staff can solve this by giving them more control
methods to overcome barriers: modelling behaviour
by allowing new staff to shadow other staff who give person centred care, helps them learn how to give it correctly to other individuals in the service as well.
this can help new staff gain confidence when working with service users when giving person centred care.
