the background knowledge that forms the setting for an event, statement or idea.

LO2 what is meant by a policy?
rules that are set out by a setting, linked from laws and legislation.

Each law influences person-centred care polices in the UK and shows the Government’s commitment to personalisation.

LO2 current context: social and medical model of disability/health: what is the social model?
the social model states the people are disabled by their environments and that we can reduce this by enabling them and giving person-centred care.
LO2 current context: social and medical model of disability/health: what is the medical model?
the medical model used to be used and includes doing everything for the individual and giving medication as a ‘quick fix’ instead of investigating what caused their problems like the social model.
LO2 current context: what the difference between the social model and the medical model?
the social model investigate what problems are whereas the medical models is more about giving medication to fix things in the short term (eg, broken leg putting a case on it).
