LnS Overhead panel Flashcards
Will the DOME lights activate with the battery switches turned OFF?
NO
Batteries must be ON/AUTO
What conditions have to be met for the CVR data to be erased?
Aircraft on ground
Parking brake set
What lights are not illuminated by the ANNUNCIATORS TEST?
Master warning/ Caution
Fire Test Lights
GPU Pushbutton light
EMRG/PRKG Brake light
What is normal AC BUS source priority?
Respective IDG
AC BUS TIE
What is the AC BUS TIE source priority?
APU
GPU
IDG
What occurs if OFF is selected on IDG 1?
Opens the IDG contactor
Isolates IDG from respective bus
What does the illumination of the amber LED indicate?
Which IDG to disconnect
Associated with IDG OIL caution EICAS
If an IDG has been disconnected, can it be reconnected in flight?
No
When will the AVAIL light illuminate?
When the GPU is connected but is NOT powering the AC BUS TIE (button can be in or out)
When will “in use” illuminate?
When GPU is powering the AC BUS TIE (button must be pushed in)
What happens if TRU (Transfer Relay Unit) switch is moved to OFF?
Isolated respective TRU from its associated D.C. BUS
What is the difference between OFF and ON for BATT 1?
OFF supplies power to the HOT BATT BUS 1 only
ON connects battery to D.C. ESSENTIAL BUS 1
What happens when BATT 2 is placed in the AUTO position?
Connects battery either to the DC ESS BUS 2 or the APU START BUS automatically, according to system logic
What happens when XFEED is set to LOW 1
Opens cross feed valve
Activates AC PUMP 2
Supplies fuel to both engines from the right wing tank
When will AC (fuel) PUMP 2 activate automatically?
- When ejector pump output is insufficient
- eng start or pump failure - X FEED operations
- On ground for APU start
- IF AC power is available
What causes EMER LIGHTS to illuminate automatically if ARMED is selected?
Loss of D.C. Bus 1
Or airplanes electrical power is turned off
When do the NO SMKG and FSTN BELTS lights illuminate automatically?
When oxygen masks are commanded to deploy
What happens when you pull the fire EXTG handle?
- Closes Eng bleed air valve
- Closes fuel shut off valve
- Closes hydraulic shut off valve
- Generator line contactor will open as engine decelerates
What happens when you press the APU guarded pushbutton?
- Closes APU shutoff valve
2. Discharges APU fire bottle
In the event of an APU fire, will the bottle automatically discharge?
No
Can we leave the airplane running unattended with the APU running?
No. Someone must be available to discharge the APU fire bottle
Smoke detected on ground. What happens when the FWD CARGO SMOKE button is pushed?
1st push discharges HIGH rate bottle
2nd push required to discharge LOW rate bottle
Smoke detected in flight. What would be different if we were in flight regarding the FWD CARGO SMOKE pushbutton?
1 st push discharges HIGH rate bottle
60 sec later LOW rate automatically discharges
What happens to electrical power during a normal APU shutdown?
If APU is ONLY source of AC power…
-APU electrics will be available during cool down. (1 min)
If any other source of AC is available…
-APU electrics are removed right away
What happens when the EMER STOP (guarded) button is pushed IN?
Closes the APU fuel shut off valve,
Shuts down APU without a 1 min cooldown
Illuminates white stripe on lower half of button
In AUTO what will cause the PTU to operate?
Low pressure in system 2
- A failure of ENG 2 or
- A failure of ENG 2 EDP
(Assists with landing gear extension or retraction when there is Eng 2 failure or loss of EDP 2.)
What is the PTUs primary purpose?
Provides normal gear retraction or extension in the event of eng 2 failure or EDP failure
When will hydraulic system 1 ELEC (hyd) PUMP run automatically on ground?
During takeoff
Flaps > 0 and
Thrust levers advanced (60 deg)
Or
Ground speed >50kts
When will hydraulic system 2 (hyd) pump run automatically?
During takeoff Flaps >0 and Thrust levers advanced (60 deg) Or Ground speed >50kts AND For single engine taxi... -when eng 1 has been started and PRKG brake released
In flight when will hyd SYS 1 or SYS 2 ELEC PUMP operate automatically?
If low press is detected
Or
Landing:
Flaps not at zero
In AUTO when will hyd SYS 3 ELEC PUMP B turn on?
In flight when low pressure is detected
When would the LFE CTRL pressurization mode be used?
If FMS is inop
Landing at an airport not in the FMS database
With the pressurization mode in AUTO, what is the effect of pressing the DUMP button?
Turns off both packs and recirc fans, allowing aircraft to depressurize AND
Outflow valve modulates to raise cabin to 12400’ at 2000 FPM (natural leak will raise cabin higher)
Windshield heating buttons are pushed in (automatic operation) PBIT is complete. You are on the ground. When will the windshield heaters operate?
With TWO sources of AC power, not counting the GPU
You are in flight. What happens if ICE PROTECTION MODE knob is set to ON?
Overrides system logic and activates anti ice system regardless of icing condition
What’s different if you’re on the ground and select ICE PROTECTION MODE to ON?
It only activates the engine anti-ice
In flight what is the pneumatic bleed source priority for packs and wing anti ice?
- Respective side bleed
- Opposite side bleed
- APU bleed
On ground if engine and APU bleed are available simultaneously, which has priority for engine start?
APU bleed
What conditions command the RECIRC fans to the. Off automatically?
- Both packs are commanded OFF
- DUMP function button IN
- Smoke is detected in the recirculation bay.
What conditions command the PACKS to turn off automatically?
DUMP button
Thrust levers MAX
During takeoff with REF ECS OFF and APU BLEED is unavailable
What does the illumination of an amber striped bar in the upper half of a bleed button indicate?
An engine bleed leak
When will passenger o2 masks automatically deploy?
Cabin pressure exceeds 14k
What is the function of the TIMER position on the windshield wiper panel?
Provides intermittent operation
