Liver, stomach, spleen and pancreas Flashcards
Parts of Stomach
Fundus-rounded portion superior
body- large central portion
pylorus- connects stomach to duodenum
lesser curvature- shorter, concave medial surface, superior
Greater curvature- lateral border, supplied by gastric + left gastroomental
Sphincters of stomach
Pyloric- Stomach and duodenum- controls exit of chyme
Inferior oesophageal- osephagus and stomach (T11)
Neurovascular supply for stomach
Comes from coeliac trunk
Right from common hepatic- lesser curvature
and left gastric from coeliac trunk- lesser curvature
Right gastro-omental- grastroduodenal- common hepatic
left gastro-omental- splenic- coeliac
*Both greater curvature
Lobes of the liver
Right- attach falciform
left- attach falcform
caudate (superior)- between inderior vena cava and ligamentum venosum
quadrate (inferior)- lower between gall bladder and fossa
Only see all 4 from posterior
What are the spaces between the liver and surrounding
Hepatic recesses
- Subrphrenic
- Subhepatic
- morisons pouch
Ligaments of the liver
Falciform- anterior surface to abdominal wall
Coronary- anterior surface to diaphragm
Triangular- attach superior surface to diaphragm
Deep fissure between the caudate and quadrate
Porta hepatis
Blood supply to liver
Hepatic proper artery- coeliac trunk
Hepatic portal vein- deoxygenated blood away, detoxify
Neruovascular supply to the spleen
splenic artery- coeliac trunk
Splenic vein- venous drainage
Parts of the pancreas
Head- widest part, c shaped
neck- overlies superior mesenteric
tail- Left proximal, contains splenorenal ligament with splenic veins, ONLY part intraperitoneal
body- central
uncinate process- projection from head, extends medial
What is the common bile duct made from
Common hepatic duct from liver and cystic duct from gallbladder
Parts of the gallbladder
Fundus, body and neck
peritoneum folde over itself
Omentum
Greater and lesser oomentum
Greater hands down from greater curvature- drapes over transverse colon
Lesser- continuous with peritoneal layer of stomach and duodenum
Function of liver
Synthesis of bile, glycogen storage, clotting factor production
Location of liver
Right hypochonrium and epigastric
Surfaces of liver
Diaphragmatic
Visceral
Ducts of liver
Hepatic- forms at right and left- forms common bile duct
common bile duct- comes from bladder with hepatic
spleen
Upper quadrat under diaphragm , rib 9th and 11th
Left hypochondrium
Can’t be palpated
Intraperitoneal
Duct system
Pancreatic duct runs the length of pancreas and links the common bile duct to form the hepatopnacreatic ampulla of vater
Exocrine compartment- serous gland
Vasculature of pancreas
Splenic artery- superior and inferior pancreadticoduodenal arteries
Drain into hepatic portal vein- superior mesenteric branch
Gallbladder function
Used to temporarily store bile a fluid produced by the liver
Location of the gallbladder
Right hypochondriac region
Parts of the gallbladder
Fundus- rounded end portion, projects into inferior surface of liver
body- main part
neck- tapers to the cystic duct leading to billary tree
Heartmans pouch- muscular fold
