Anastomoses of portal vessels leading to portal hypertension –> varices through digestive tract
Ascites due to low albumin production and increased BP –> oedema
hepatocellular carcinoma in extreme cases
blockages to flow of bile out of the liver
gallstones
can escape all bladder and enter common bile duct
block flow of bile into duodenum
