lipo 2 Flashcards
extracellular disease of fat matabolism?
hyperlipdemias (dyslipidemias, dyslipoproteinnemias)
which type?
accumulation of chylomicrons, either due to lipoprotein lipase or apoC2 deficiency
type 1
elevated LDL level, mostly due to genetic defects in LDL receptor. “Dominant” so heterozygoutes have high LDL levels, homozygouse -> myocardial infraction in early age
type 2
abnormalities of apoE, interferes with uptake of chylomicrons and VLDL remnants. hypothyrodism can produce similar effect
type3
most common - VLDL increase due to obesity, alcohol abuse of diabetes.
type 4
like type 1, incased VLDL, high chylomicron levels, leads to pancreatitis, eruptive xanthomas
type 5
this can also occur with certain liver diseases where biliary excretion is reduced. an abnomral lipoprotein will accumulate. not typically associated with risk of atheroscelrosis
hypercholesterolemia
this is analog of triacylglcerols. it is a strong inhibitor of pancreatic lipase. ( lows down lipid digestion, and therefore lipid absorption)
orlistat
orlistat is saturated form of ______
lipstatin
as saturated fats increases, circulating total ____ level increases
LDL CH
3 mechanism of fiber
- bile acid sequestration
- reduces insulin rise by slowing CHO absorption
- produce short chain FA, absorbed by portal vein and reduces CH synthesis
