A
when two or more gene loci are present on the same autosome and are often inherited together

what is the result of autosomal linkage and why
A
-genes on the same autosome are inherited together
-so are not free to undergo independent assortment (mendel’s second law)
-large numbers of original parental phenotypes in offspring show linkage
- do not follow the 9:3:3:1 ratio

when may linked genes be separated during crossing over
A
it is inversely proportional to how close the genes are on the chromosome
-the closer the genes are to each other, the more likely they will be inherited together
