Lighting Flashcards
What happens when the ANN LIGHTS test switch is pressed and held?
Cabin Pressure Indication panel indicates all 8’s and cabin rate of climb pointer rotates c-clockwise to 6000 fpm down.
All cockpit lights and digital readouts illuminate except for…
1. FIRE HANDLES
2. FUEL SWITCH LIGHT
3. PASSENGER OXYGEN ON light
4. EMER & MIC selections on ACP’s
5. Red light on ELT switch panel
What happens when cockpit lights MASTER CONTROL knob is rotated from OFF to small tick mark?
Aircraft is configured for night flying: The further you turn, the more the lights dim and back panel illuminates
When do No Smoking indicator signs come on automatically?
When passenger masks are deployed.
Manually or automatically
Do lights in tail compartment need to be turned OFF prior to exiting?
No, they turn off automatically when door is closed unless the switch in baggage compartment was ALSO selected ON.
How many strobe lights are on the plane?
Three LED assemblies: one in tail cone, one on each wing
How would you know if Nav or strobe light has failed?
A fault indicator light is integrated into each assembly and provides indication of LED failure.
>For single LED failure, the Fault indicator light illuminates solid amber color which indicates that servicing is req’d.
>For multiple LED failures, the light flashes and clearly alerts ground crews that the aircraft cannot be dispatched.
Describe the landing lights
They’re fixed aim, mounted in a light tunnel. They’re high intensity discharge lamps; not LED.
Describe the taxi lights
Three LED light assemblies mounted on the steerable portion of the nose gear actuator assembly.
When do taxi lights automatically turn off?
Gear retraction.
How many wing tip flood lights on aircraft?
Two LED lights on each wing tip, one shining down, one shining forward.
Which exterior lights are not LED?
Landing lights (xenon)
Where can you turn on the wheel well lights?
- Cockpit Overhead Panel: Exterior lights - WHL WELL
2. Security/Gnd Svc Panel - WHEEL WELL LTS
How many exterior evacuation lights and where are they?
Nine. 3 on each side of fuselage - shining over wings, 2 underwing mounted on wing-to-body, 1 main entry light.
Describe the emergency lighting system
9 - exterior lights, 6 over wing, 2 wing-to-body fuselage, 1 entrance door,
Interior - Cabin floor path lights, illuminated EXIT signs, Air Stair illumination.
Controlled by Emergency Lighting control switches on the COP.
When will the beacon illuminate?
Switched on with full internal power
Aircraft on Ground and Ground Svc Bus turned on
Aircraft on Ground and External Batt switch ON.
During normal operation, LED strobe light assemblies operate at ____% power.
66%
If an LED strobe light bank fails in a light assembly, the remaining banks _________.
increase to 100% power.
Crew notices a flashing amber light on the wing tip light assembly. Which system is affected, the NAV or Strobe lights?
Can’t distinguish from the indicator alone.
NAV lights must be turned on for either fault indicator to work.
If both the PULSE and L/R LND lights are pushed in, what happens below 18K/above 18K?
LND lights have priority below 18K and PULSE capsule light will extinguish.
Above 18K, PULSE has priority and the opposite will happen.
Can the pilot use the downwash wingtip light to determine where the wingtip ends?
No. The wingtip extends about 5’ farther than the lighted circle.
What must be powered to illuminate the Wheel Well lights?
Ground service Bus
If the Wheel well lights were turned on with the switch on the Security/Ground Svc Panel, can the cockpit capsule light be turned off by depressing the switch?
No. The capsule light will remain on regardless of cockpit switch position if the Gnd Svc Panel Wheel well light switch is selected ON.
If selected IN, when will the L/R LND lights illuminate during descent?
descending thru 17,700 ft.
Can crew dim Fire Handle or Fuel Control Switch Lights?
No.
