What are the ways to open the EMED?
Select the Door Switch to OPEN (The door will electrically unlock and free fall open using the FWD E-Batt
Open the Main Entrance Door Emergency Switch Access Door panel on the MED and select OPEN

Can you fly with the Security/Ground Service panel door locked or the Entrance door emergency switch access panel door locked?
No.
The Security /Ground Service Panel Door and the Main Entrance Door Emergency Switch Access Door must be unlocked during all ground and flight operations to ensure accessibility to Main Door switches.

No.

What is the purpose of the Door Safety Switch on the POP?
To prevent the door from being closed to stop it from closing if it is closing.
On APU start, what other valve will automatically open besides the load control valve?
Isolation valve will open…

Do I have to have all 4 DUs to dispatch?
No; DU 3 can be failed.
What do you do if DU#2 has Red X?
Ground ops
Switch DU#2 to ALT
Can you dispatch with DU#2 on ALT, and DU#3 failed?

How do I know if the smoke hoods are serviceable?
Moisture indicator is blue. Inspection tag date in the future some time.
How many smoke hoods are installed? Where?
Two: One in flight deck, one in baggage compartment.
What kind of test is performed with the PRESS-TO-TEST AND RESET control switch on the oxygen mask?
Leak Check
What would indicate a leak in the Oxygen system while pressing and holding the PRESS-TO-TEST-AND RESET control switch?
Blinker remains yellow
When the mask is removed from the storage container, what activates the shutoff valve?
The open doors

One Halon in the cockpit, and two halon and one water in the cabin

What dampens the main entry door during opening?
Trapped hydraulic fluid in actuator
What is the purpose of the door safety switch?
When depressed, it prevents the door from closing
What is the primary electrical system the EMED uses to open/close?
Secondary Power Distribution System (SPDS) for control and power switching.
Which hydraulic system closes the door?
Pressure from the Left System, PTU (with Engines running), or Aux Pump. If closed with AUX pump, the pump will automatically shut off when door
closes and latches.
Can you open the EMED from the cockpit with Main Batteries turned OFF?
No. The Door Open switch requires ESS DC power from main batteries.
Can you close the EMED with Fwd E-Batt power only?
No. Must have ESS DC power from Main Batteries.
To get ESS power, either the Main Batts have to be ON in COP, or “External Batteries” turned on in Security/GND Service Panel.
