16
Q

What does and amber RA2 indicate on both PFDs?

A

Both pilots flight instruments are receiving radio altimeter data from the same source for data.

17
Q

What does it mean when ALT is boxed in cyan on ENG ALT CTRL page of SMC?

A

Engine is operating in alternate control mode (ie: FADEC controlling the speed of LP fan).

18
Q

What primary variable does FMS use to compute VREF?

A

Solely on the flap HANDLE position.

It takes current aircraft weight and altitude in to account as well.

19
Q

What is the restriction on selection of full windows on DU2 and DU3?

A

Full window cannot be selected simultaneously.

20
Q

When does the PLI come in to view? Stick Shaker?

A

0.75 and 0.94

in Normal flight law

21
Q

Airspeed / Altitude trend vector shows where airspeed/alt will be in ____sec at the current change rate.

A

6 seconds

22
Q

You look through HUD and see “ALIGN HUD”. What does that mean?

A

HUD is not positioned correctly. Move it in to detente. Do not use HUD with “ALIGN HUD” displayed.

23
Q

When is NUC done?

A

The Non-Uniformity Correction happens during camera power up, flaps selection from 0 - 10, manual NUC selected on the SMC.

24
Q

Why does the horizon line flash on HUD during nose high attitudes?

A

Indicates it’s no longer conformal…no longer representing a visible horizon line.

25
Q

Describe EVS Window heat operations

A

a. Turns on for 2 minutes, then off.
b. If Cowl Heat selected on, operation is automatic, turns on for 1 minute, off for 7, in a cycle.
c. If gear down, stays on continuously.
.

26
Q

Flight director or autopilot with vertical guidance, either ILS or FMS vertical path, is required for all IMC EVS approaches. How do you determine if an obstacle-free path is present?

A

If runway is served by an approach with a DA (Decision Altitude).

27
Q

At what altitude does airport symbol normally appear on the HUD?

A

2000’ above airport

28
Q

When does runway symbol replace the airport symbol?

A

At 350 ft RA, ruway symbol joins the airport symbol and at 325 ft RA, the airport symbol disappears. Runway symbol is removed at 60 ft RA.

29
Q

When does Flare cue appear on HUD?

A

at 100 ft, and slowly moves up to provide flare guidance.

30
Q

What is provided on HUD unusual attitude display?

A

G-load digital readout.

31
Q

On the VSD, Actual Flight Path Angle is shown as a ____________ and is derived from the IRS.

A

dashed magenta line

32
Q

On the VSD, what is a Speed Prediction Circle, when is it displayed, what does it look like?

A

> A Speed Prediction Circle displays when the FMS predicts the aircraft will achieve a constraint speed set in the flight plan.
It displays when the active waypoint has a speed constraint associated with it.
The Speed Prediction Circle is green and appears along the actual flight path line.

33
Q

What is the “Terrain Under Flight Plan” mode on VSD?

A

This mode is displayed anytime the aircraft’s engaged lateral
mode is FMS. Since the vast majority of a normal flight is flown with FMS as the engaged lateral mode, the mode is not annunciated. In this mode, the system looks along the flight plan route and creates a pathway 1 times the current RNP increment to the left and right of the route’s centerline.

With HDG as lateral mode, the terrain displayed is only that directly off the nose of the aircraft. “TRACK” is displayed on the bottom of the VSD when HDG mode is active.

34
Q

When can a crew select GS INHIBIT? When will it automatically deselect?

A

Any time the a/c is below 2000’ AGL.

It will automatically deselect at 30’.

It can be manually deselected at any time.

35
Q

Why would a crew select GS INHIBIT during normal ops?

A

The ILS GS on the approach being flown is NOTAM’d out.

36
Q

When will the aircraft enter the Emergency Descent Mode (EDM)?

A

EDM is activated automatically under the following conditions:
● The Autopilot is engaged
● Aircraft at FL 400 or higher
● CABIN PRESS LOW message activates on the CAS

37
Q

When EDM is activated, what happens?

A

When EDM is activated, the following actions occur automatically:
● Autothrottles engage (if autothrottles were OFF at the time)
● GP Speed Window indicates 340 knots
● GP Speed Button’s MAN legend is displayed
● GP Heading Window display a heading 90° left of current heading
● GP Altitude Window displays 15,000 feet
● GP Heading Button’s ON legend is displayed
● GP FLCH Button’s ON legend is displayed
● Thrust Levers reduce to IDLE
● Aircraft turns 90° left and descends to 15,000 feet while holding an airspeed of VMO/MMO
● Approaching 15,000 feet, vertical mode changes to ASEL and levels off at 15,000 feet
● GP speed window changes to 250 knots and Autothrottles advance to maintain speed of 250 knots

38
Q

When Takeoff Mode is engaged on the Vertical performance Mode of the PFD with both engines running, what happens?

A

● Flight Director Cue moves to a preset pitch of 9°
● As the airspeed speed approaches V2, the Flight Director Cue commands a pitch to speed hold of V2 to V2+10, up to a maximum of 17° of pitch.
● V2 to V2+10 is maintained until 1,500 feet AGL
● Above 1,500 feet AGL, if the flaps are retracted or FLCH is selected on the GP, speed window automatically changes to VSE and Flight Director Cue commands a lower pitch attitude to accelerate to VSE

39
Q

When Takeoff Mode is engaged on the Vertical performance Mode of the PFD with only one engine running, what happens?

A

● As speed reaches V2, Flight Director Cue commands a speed hold of V2 to V2+10
● V2 to V2+10 is maintained until 1,500 feet AGL
● Above 1,500 feet AGL, GP speed window automatically changes to VSE and Flight Director Cue commands a lower pitch attitude to accelerate to VSE
● Upon reaching VSE, Flight Director Cue commands speed hold of VSE
