Avionics #2 Flashcards
What does the TCS (Touch control Steering) do?
When pressed and held, in momentarily interrupts the autopilot
Which DU can be failed for dispatch?
DU#3?
When does the SFD automatically display?
Loss of: PFD Unusual Attitudes Break Power Transfer Instrument Comparison Issue SFD failure of either.
What does RAAS stand for?
Runway Awareness and Advisory System; runway advisories can be inhibited by depressing the RAAS INHIBIT switch.
What are the four major functions of the MCDU?
Navigation, performance, radio and SSPC interface.
An ATC cleared altitude should always be set in the GP preselect by whom?
Pilot monitoring
What’s the source of information to the DUs?
Three MAU’s, three MCDU’s and other sensors
What functions can be controlled and monitored from UTIL on the SMC?
- Tire Pressure monitor
- semi-mode CPCS controller
- Refueling and fuel quantity
- Engine oil
- Hyd Fluid Quantity
The Line select adjacent to CAS/MACH display on PFD ADI menu toggles the airspeed tape btwn calibrated A/S and Mach only when the aircraft is above what altitude?
25,000 feet.
When pressed it does not ‘box’, it only changes the PFD display.
What does the Flight Path Vector (FPV) on the HUD represent?
Where the mass of the airplane is going.
How are configuration mismatches indicated on MCDU?
In INVERSE VIDEO
How can default value be restored on the MCDU during performance initialization?
Generally by using DELETE function on the appropriate LSK.
On the airport charts, how do you know if it’s GEO referenced? (aircraft position can be displayed on it)
A white or green airplane icon appears in the right corner of the chart’s title.
During power up, on the SMC SENSOR page, which number Flight Guidance Computer (FGC) and Auto throttle (AT) would you expect to see?
Either 1 or 2. They alternate every flight.
What does and amber MAG2 indicate on both PFDs?
Both pilots are using the same source for heading information. In this case, IRS#2.
What does and amber RA2 indicate on both PFDs?
Both pilots flight instruments are receiving radio altimeter data from the same source for data.
What does it mean when ALT is boxed in cyan on ENG ALT CTRL page of SMC?
Engine is operating in alternate control mode (ie: FADEC controlling the speed of LP fan).
What primary variable does FMS use to compute VREF?
Solely on the flap HANDLE position.
It takes current aircraft weight and altitude in to account as well.
What is the restriction on selection of full windows on DU2 and DU3?
Full window cannot be selected simultaneously.
When does the PLI come in to view? Stick Shaker?
0.75 and 0.94
in Normal flight law
Airspeed / Altitude trend vector shows where airspeed/alt will be in ____sec at the current change rate.
6 seconds
You look through HUD and see “ALIGN HUD”. What does that mean?
HUD is not positioned correctly. Move it in to detente. Do not use HUD with “ALIGN HUD” displayed.
When is NUC done?
The Non-Uniformity Correction happens during camera power up, flaps selection from 0 - 10, manual NUC selected on the SMC.
Why does the horizon line flash on HUD during nose high attitudes?
Indicates it’s no longer conformal…no longer representing a visible horizon line.
