This mode is displayed anytime the aircraft’s engaged lateral mode is FMS. Since the vast majority of a normal flight is flown with FMS as the engaged lateral mode, the mode is not annunciated. In this mode, the system looks along the flight plan route and creates a pathway 1 times the current RNP increment to the left and right of the route’s centerline. With HDG as lateral mode, the terrain displayed is only that directly off the nose of the aircraft. “TRACK” is displayed on the bottom of the VSD when HDG mode is active.
