Fuel Flashcards
Approximately how many gallons does each hopper hold?
190 gallons, 1283 lbs
In addition to the hopper, how many fuel compartments in each wing?
6
How many fuel drains are there on each side, and where are they?
3,
1 in the main portion of the wing tank,
1 in each hopper and
1 in each vent plenum.
What powers each fuel pump?
Left Main - Left ESS DC Bus
Left Alt - Left Main DC Bus
Right Main - Left ESS DC Bus
Right Alt - Left Main DC Bus
With the FUEL RETURN switch “ON”, what will shut off the system?
- Crossflow valve OPEN
- Engine at high power setting >2650 PPH
- Fire Handled Pulled or Fuel control selected OFF
- Low fuel pressure or low fuel quantity.
After completing the FUEL System Test on the COP, the fuel tank temp is 6 degrees C. What will happen after engine start?
The Heated Fuel Return system will be active.
What is the fuel capacity using gravity filler caps?
approx 43,650 lbs
What happens to indications if the fuel tanks get overfilled?
If either tank exceeds 25,100 lbs, the readouts on the Engine instruments and synoptics will be amber dashes on the affected side and total quantities.
The FMS and SMC will show accurate numbers.
Are you allowed to take more than 48,200 lbs?
Yes, as long as you don’t exceed 104,000 max ramp weight.
What are the three ways the pressure fueling shutoff valve closes?
- Fuel Quantity system when preselect amount is reached.
- At the GSCP when AUTO REFUEL switch turned OFF
- REMOTE FUELING SHUTOFF switch in COP.
Where is the APU fuel shutoff valve and what powers it?
APU fuel line off the left tank, accessible thru the Left main wheel well.
Rt Battery bus or Lt ESS DC
Where are the Engine Fuel Shutoff valves and what powers / Controls them?
Aft of the wing beam on each tank.
Right - Rt ESS DC
Left - Lt ESS DC
Respective fire handles.
What’s the purpose of ventilation system in fuel tanks?
It protects from over and under pressurization by allowing air, fuel vapors, and fuel to move about or flow freely.
What percentage of expansion is allowed in plenums?
about 2%
What’s indicated if the red light illuminates on the refuel panel?
High level sensors are wet and Fuel Quantity Signal Conditioner has closed the respective fueling valve.
