Q

What happens to indications if the fuel tanks get overfilled?

A

If either tank exceeds 25,100 lbs, the readouts on the Engine instruments and synoptics will be amber dashes on the affected side and total quantities.

The FMS and SMC will show accurate numbers.

13
Q

What’s the purpose of ventilation system in fuel tanks?

A

It protects from over and under pressurization by allowing air, fuel vapors, and fuel to move about or flow freely.

16
Q

What happens when REMOTE FUELING SHUTOFF switch is selected to CLSD?

A

Both pressure fueling shutoff valves close and CLSD legend illuminates in blue.

17
Q

What’s the warning associated with use of crossflow valve inflight to balance?

A

Always OPEN x-flow valve BEFORE turning OFF a boost pump on one side.

18
Q

There are several abnormal conditions which inhibit the heated fuel return system (e.g. pulled fire handle, low fuel pressure signal, low fuel quantity signal). What types of normal conditions inhibit this system from operating?

A

X-Flow valve open, or engine at high power settings

19
Q

What happens if both fuel boost pumps stop operating?

A

The engine will be able to suction feed below 20,000’. Above20,000, the engine will run erratically and flame out.

20
Q

What’s the purpose of the fuel ejector and how does it operate?

A

It keeps the hopper full. It’s a low-pressure, high-volume jet pump (using motive flow) with no moving parts.

21
Q

What’s the difference between the intertank and crossflow valve?

A

The intertank valve allows fuel to gravity flow btwn hoppers, the crossflow connects pump manifolds.

22
Q

What’s the capacity of each hopper?

A

190 gallons…approx 1270 lbs
