Lighting Flashcards
CCT
Correlated Color Temperature, measured in Kelvins
CRI
Color Rendering Index - ability to distinguish colors under a light source
90-100 = excellent
75-85 = good
0-55 = Poor
Measured light intensity is ____ proportional to the distance squared from the source of radiation.
Inversely
Inverse Square Law
describes the intensity of light at different distances from a light source. Every light source is different, but the intensity changes in the same way. The intensity of light is inversely proportional to the square of the distance between light source and measuring point.
a larger surface area leads to a light intensity that is inversely proportional to the square of the distance, since the same amount of light has to be distributed onto a larger surface area respectively.
So - as you move away from the light source, your light will cover more area but that light is cut in half
Inverse Square Law
If you __ the distance between subject and light source, it illuminates a surface area __ times greater than the one before.
double
four
indicates % of catalog lamp lumens actually produced
1.2 means that the lamp will provide 120% of normal lumen output
ballast factor
lumens over watts
Efficacy
N = E * A
F * CU * LLC
Lumen Method N = number of lamps required E = the required foot candle level at the task A = area of the room F = lumen output per lamp CU = Coefficient of utilization LLF = combined light loss factor
is a measure of light level in a room
illuminance
__ is the evenness of light across an area
scotopic
