Plebians were usually poor and they made up the majority of Ancient Rome. They were normally farmers, workers and soldiers. They were given also given a dole (a payment of free grain). Plebian men wore a tunic down to their knees and women wore a plain stola. Most plebeians lived in Insulaes. Plebeians had no political power and some plebeians were wealthy and called equites but they still had no power.

Patricians were rich and were the minority of the people that made up Ancient Rome. A patricians house in a town was called a Domus, and a Villa if it was on the countryside. They were rulers and controlled the government and army. They served in the senate, and were military generals and governors.
