What did Addington do?

A

He introduced improvements to Pitts in income tax collection
He investigated several measures to try and win the war with France
He abolished income tax in 1802 in peacetime, but reinstated it in 1804 after the French wars started again.
He increased the efficiency of tax collection.
He lowered the 1 shilling in the pound rate from £5.6 mil from Pitt to £4.76 mil
He raised a militia of 85,000 and 400,000 volunteer soldiers in case of a need for any army

A

He tried to make a coalition government but interference from the King meant that Fox couldn’t join, making the coalition impossible
Under Pitt the Battle of Trafalgar against the French was won, but he didn’t take credit for it
