Looking at the connections between mental health and physical health. Work with complex case presentations where there are many potential stressors.

What is somatization disorder?
At least 2 years of multiple and variable unexplained physical symptoms with persistent refusal to accept advice or reassurance from several doctors.
What is hypochondriacal disorder?
Persistent belief in the presence of at least one serious physical illness even though repeated investigations are normal. Persistent refusal to accept the advice and reassurance of others
What is a conversion/dissociative disorder?
No evidence of a physical disorder but evidence for a psychological cause due to a temporal relationship eg. pseudoseizures.
Dissociative –> mental effects with no obvious physical problem
Conversion –> physical problem with no obvious physical cause
What is a factitious disorder?
Intensional feigning of symptoms or disabilities to gain attention eg. Munchausen’s Syndrome
