Levels of Organisation In the Body Flashcards
1
Q
In order from smallest to biggest name the 6 levels of organisation in the body.
A
1- Chemical Level 2- Cellular Level 3- Tissue Level 4- Organ Level 5- System Level 6- Organism Level
2
Q
Chemical Level
A
- Most basic level of organisation of the body
- Atoms joining to form molecules.
3
Q
Cellular Level
A
- Molecules come together to form organelles which carry out different functions within the cell e.g. digestion.
- Organelles group together to form cells.
- The body contains many different types of cells each with a specific function.
4
Q
Tissue Level
A
- groups of similar cell types come together to form different types of tissue.
- 4 Primary types of tissue in the body.
- Epithelial tissue, cover surface of the body
- Connective tissue, connects and supports the organs of the body
- Muscular tissue, aids in movement and generates heat.
- Nervous tissue, carries information from one part of the body to another through impulses
- Adipose tissue, fatty tissue.
5
Q
Organ Level
A
- Groups of 2 or more tissues come together to form an organ.
- Each organ in the body usually has its own specific function or multiple function. Each with its own unique shape.
6
Q
Organ Systems Level
A
- Made up of related organs that work together to carry out specific functions.
- e.g. female reproductive system: ovaries, uterus, cervix, vagina etc…
7
Q
Organisms Level
A
- Formed from many different organ systems, coming together to make an organism, a being.
- E.g. The human
