What are levees?
A
They are built up alluvium on the banks of the river during the middle stage.

Where/ when does the river deposit it’s load? And what does it do?
A
On the river bed in low flood
Raising the height of the river bed

What happens when the river floods?
A
The river loses energy and deposits it’s load since the water leaves the channel and spreads out over the flood plain.

What happens to the material?
A
The heavier material is deposited on the river banks while the lighter material is further transported

The river makes a tall bank on either side.
