Lesson 7 Flashcards
What are antihypertensives?
meds used for high BP
Commonly prescribed for variety of cardiovascular and other disorders
beta-blockers
Prevent calcium-dependent contractions of smooth muscle in arteries, causing them to dilate, lowering BP
calcium channel blockers
Block enzymes secreted by kidneys, preventing formation of potent hormone that constricts blood vessels
angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE)
Affective and safe in treatment of hypertension
angiotensin-II receptor antagonists
Where is the radial artery?

Where is the carotid artery?
