• an influencing technique that involves an initial outrageous offer that is designed to fail followed by a more reasonable request
Door-in-the-Face Technique
• assumes agreeing to a small request increases the likelihood of agreeing to a second, larger request
Foot-in-the-Door Technique
• the capacity or ability to direct or influence behavior of others or the course of events

Political Self
is process of making decisions that applies to all member of a group. It is the ability to govern and control a group of people in a community, state or Nation.
Politics
appeals to the emotions and ideals of the audience and elicits feelings that already reside in them
Pathos
used of credible sources, citing facts, appeals to an audience’s sense of logic or reason.
Logos
means to convince an audience of the author’s credibility or character.

Social Power
giving tangible rewards like monetary awards, salary increase, certificates, gifts, bonus,
reward power
Threats of write ups, demotions, pay cut, lay off, termination if employees don’t follow orders
coercive power
Having power through a role you fill. Enabling them to influence others because of the assigned status.
CEO- for business decisions and direct employees through their role
Judge – uses legitimate power by making legal decisions based on the authority given to them
legitimate power
is vested in the position that the leader holds within the organization, and is obtained on the day that the leader assumes this official leadership role
Legitimate power
power based on group members’ identification with, attraction to, or respect for the powerholder
Referent Power
– compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire devotion in others

Laissez Faire
