Lesson 5 - Voltage Flashcards
What is voltage?
Voltage is a measurement of the size of a ‘push’ that causes the current to flow in a circuit. Voltage is what makes the charges move.
What does the voltage across a cell tell you about?
It tells you the size of the force that will be placed on the charges in a circuit. It can also tell you about how much energy can be transferred to the components in the circuit by the charges.
What can you do to the voltage to make the bulb brighter?
You can increase it
If you add another bulb to a circuit, what will happen to the current? How will you make it the same brightness as it was with 1 bulb?
It will make the current smaller. This is because it is harder to push current through 2 bulbs than 1. To make it the same brightness as one bulb, you would have to increase the voltage.
