  • refers to the disapointment people feel when they go to Paris due to the notion of near and far places becoming increasingly blurred as people develop attatchments to places they have never been.

  • Perceptions we have are simplistic as people learn through association very fast
  • As photo-editing of people is common place, so places can easily be ‘photoshopped’ or filtered to make them appear different and in the case of tourist areas,more attention
  • They can be selective in what they show
  • They can be useful to compare places over time

    -A feeling that thereader knows what it is like to ‘be there’
    -Some places have become so strongly associated with particular authors
