What is a plantigrade?
an animal that doesn’t walk on its toes; it uses the entire bottom of the foot.
Do bears eat mostly meat?
No, bears are predominantly vegetarians.
What do bears do instead of hibernating?
They go into a state of dormancy.
Should you ever feed a bear?
No. It is dangerous for you and the bear.
Name one way to tell the difference between a black bear and a brown bear.
brown bears have a hump above the shoulders. If a black bear it, it is small. Black bears are also smaller than brown bears. Color is NOT a way to tell them apart.
What color is polar bear skin?
It is black
What is different about a panda’s wrist compared to a brown bear’s wrist?
A panda’s wrist bone is extended so it can be used much like a thumb.
What kind of otter spends almost all its time in the water?
a sea otter spends almost all its time in water
Which is more likely to have rabies: a skunk or a raccoon?
A raccoon is much more likely to have rabies
