lesson 3 Flashcards
Manufacturing career cluster
the Manufacturing career cluster covers the planning, managing, and processing of materials to create a final product. It also involves technical support, as well as maintenance and engineering.
factory
A factory is a large space where manufacturing happens. Examples for a factory might include manufacturing car parts or packaging for food.
Production Pathway
The Production pathway includes jobs/careers that work directly on the shop floor making or assembling parts.
shop floor
Working on the shop floor means they are working on the main floor of the factory where they assemble and create parts and materials.
precision
or a high level of detail
Manufacturing Production Process Development
The Manufacturing Production Process Development pathway includes employees who are responsible for product design and design of the manufacturing process. You can think of this pathway as architects, in a way, as they are the creative (and technical) force that puts together the product design (or how the product will look) and the process needed to make it look that way. Essentially, they decide how things get created and assembled.
product design
or how the product will look
Maintenance, Installation & Repair Pathway
This pathway covers jobs and careers that perform preventative maintenance procedures on machines, tools, and equipment. They make sure that any machines and tools that are being used for a particular project are always up and running their best. They perform routine and regular checks on machines, as well as troubleshoot and repair electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems. People in this pathway are problem solvers.
Quality Assurance Pathway
The Quality Assurance pathway incorporates all jobs that make sure that the standards and procedures for a product meet its requirements. Basically, people in this pathway make sure that every product delivered is top notch and high quality. They make sure everything being sent out is actually good enough to be sent out!
Logistics and Inventory Control Pathway
The Logistics and Inventory Control pathway works with the inventory of materials needed to make the products, as well as the inventory or stocking and maintenance of finished products.
inventory
In general, inventory is a term that refers to keeping track of the amount of items you have.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Assurance Pathway
The Health, Safety, and Environmental Assurance pathway ensures that all equipment is being used safely in the workplace. People in this pathway also create safety procedures that employees follow. They keep track of injuries in the workplace as well and keep the workplace a safe place for everyone.
Manufacturing Production Process Development Pathway
Someone in the Manufacturing Production Process Development pathway would design what the bracelet would look like and the process the factory would follow to create it.
Production Pathway
Someone in the Production pathway would be on the floor actually creating the bracelets.
Maintenance, Installation and Repair Pathway
Someone in the Maintenance, Installation and Repair pathway would make sure that the machines needed to make the bracelets are always up and running smoothly.
