What does closed texts do?
Closed texts by contrast, strongly encourage a particular reading, allowing little space for the reader to produce different meanings
What is Cropping?
Technique of cutting out unwanted material from a picture
What does cropping do?
Closes off media texts to ensure audience take their preferred reading, media producers can encode messages by cropping images and adding anchorage
What is Anchorage?
Term given for placing words next to an image
What does the words in a media text do?
The words gives more meaning to the image, as this is what the producers intended to do
What is a Rhetorical Question?
Something asked that doesn’t require an answer
What is Declarative?
Statement
What is Imperative?
A command
What is Exclamatory?
Shock or surprise
What is Interrogative?
Asking Questions
What is Emotive?
Emotion for impact
