Motility
An ability of cell that can form new specialized structures in life. (example: having an endospore).
Differentiation
A response to environment that is relayed from other cells. Can also be used to exchange information about genetic codes.
Communication
An avenue of cells that allows cells to communicate to each other.
Biofilm
Exchanges DNA or genetic information between cells.
Horizontal Gene Transfer
A type of horizontal gene transfer that takes up the naked DNA from a lysed(dead) cell.
Transformation
A type of horizontal gene transfer that transfer is mediated by phages that infect bacterial cells.
Transduction
A type of horizontal gene transfer that transfer genes through sex pilus or direct contact.
