How do you get Malaria?
bitten by the anopheles mosquito-> infects the parasite plasmodium

- People living in LICS- cannot afford mosquito nets, medication etc
- Young children who have not built up their immune system
- People with HIV/AIDS (link back to lic)
- Travellers from Malaria free countries who have no immunity
Name 4 symptoms of Malaria:
- diarrhoea, fever, dizziness, seizures
Name 4 human factors that can lead to malaria:
- via blood transfusion
- organ transplant
- shared use of needles
- pregnant mother to unborn child
Name 2 physical factors that can cause malaria:
- M= primarily environmentally-triggered infection
1. mosquitos breed in warm, shallow water, rice fields-> widespread in tropical and sub-tropical regions
2. transmission can also be seasonal, occurring during or after rainy seasonal
