Conciliation
An independent conciliator attempts to get bothered sides to talk and reach a mutually acceptable agreement.
Third party may offer solution to the problem
They do not tell them what to do
Not legally binding
Negotiation
When employee and employer bargain with each other to discover a common ground that they mutually find acceptable. A compromise is reached. Not legally binding
Mediation
An independent mediator listens to both parties and outlines how their problems can be solved. Their recommendations is not legally binding
Arbitration
Both parties ask the independent arbitrator to listen to both their sides and make a decision. The parties can accept or reject the decision. Some parties may agree in advance to the arbitratior decision this is called legal arbitration
