What is the consumer protection act 2007
Information about a produce cannot be false of misleading
Prices + Advertising
Prices cannot be false or misleading , if the price of an item is reduced , it must have been the original price for 28 days. Advertising must not be misleading the consumer by making false claims about the product. Product info must be corrected.
Agressive practices
It’s illegal. A business cannot coerce a consumer into getting good or business. A business cannot not use abusive on threatening language. Cannot not take advantage about a consumers lack of knowledge or persons circumstances eg elderly person.
Prohibited practices
A good cannot make false claims about healing consumers. Or offering free prizes and saying they must pay money to claim the prizes.
Pricing and Price display
The price of good must be displayed on it or on a shelf nearby. The full price should be displayed and taxes should be included. Grocery stores that weigh fruits should provide weighing scales and show the price per kg. If a special offer is available on a produce this should be clearly stated.
