What does the Consumer contract regulations make traders and customers do?

A
  • Traders to provide customers with a full description of the products available, product prices, delivery charges, methods of payment and return options.
  • A customer can cancel an order with a full refund for physical products not digital ones
  • If a customer breaks a security seal on a DVD or video games they cannot cancel their order. Also they cannot cancel tailor-made digital goods.
  • The supplier must provide details on hardware and software compatibility

  • Be used for the specified purpose only given to the information Commissioner
  • Be adequate and relevant for it’s intended purpose - Not selling
  • Be accurate and kept up-to-date e.g Phone numbers/addresses
  • Not kept for longer than necessary
  • Be processed in accordance with the rights of the data subject
  • Be held safely and securely - not left open to be viewed

-Not be transferred out of the EU without adequate protection

What does the Computer Misuse Act do and when was it made?

A

Designed to protect users against computer misuse, including unauthorised access to computers systems and the deliberate hacking of computers to plant viruses or install spyware - 1990

States it is illegal to gain unauthorised access to change passwords and computer setting or to modify stored software/data

You cannot be making, supplying or obtaining anything which can be used in computer misuse offences
