Lecture33: Local Reg Of Blood Flow Flashcards
What are vasoactive substances?
They are secreted from the endothelium, they are either vaso constrictors or dilators
What are the vasoconstrictors?
TxA2 and Prostaglandin H2 and endothelins
What do Vasoactive substances do?
They decrease calcium thus causing vasodilation
What is NO’s half life?
6 seconds
What are the target vessels for vasoactive substances?
Capacitance vessels and Arterioles
Which endothelin receptor acts on smooth ms?
ET-A
What endothelin receptor acts on endothelial cell?
ET-B
What inhibits platelet aggregation?
Prostacyclins
What does EDHF do?
They open k+ channels
How does PGI2 vasodilate?
Increases cyclic AMP production thus activating PKA( Protein kinase A)
What is the major sites of metabolic control?
Small Arterioles and precapillary sphincters
What is the first step of vasodilation?
NO increases cGMP
What is the second step of vasodilation?
Protein kinase opens potassium channels
What is the 3rd step of vasodilation?
Calcium channels close
