How to manage a Breathing exercise?

A

Assess anxiety before starting

Psycho-educate the goodness of relaxed breathing

Put one hand on chest and one hand on belly

Instruct to slowly breath by ballooning the belly, watch the hand on the belly move while the one on chest is still.

Remind clients to breath slowly, in & out, and to relax neck & shoulder

Warn clients that some people feel dizzy in the beginning

A

Assess SUDS on anxiety before starting

Psycho-educate the goodness of visualization & relaxation

Demonstrate the peaceful-colour technique

Reinforce the use of visualization & imagery

Psycho-educate clients on the occasions when they could use the imagery exercise.
