What is the sartorius muscle often refered to as and why?
the “seatbelt” muscle because it originates on the lateral side and crosses the thigh to insert on the medial side
Rectus femoris: origin

Vastus medialis: origin
medial intertrochanteric line of femur
Vastus medialis: insertion
medial patella via quadriceps femoris tendon
Vastus medialis: action
extend leg at knee joint
Vastus medialis: innervation
femoral nerve
Vastus intermedius: origin
Upper 2/3 of anterior and lateral femur
Vastus intermedius: insertions (3)

Vastus intermedius: action
extend the leg at the knee joint
Vastus intermedius: innervation
femoral nerve
