What three bones make up the innominate?
ilium, pubis, ischium
What is the subpubic angle in a female vs a male?
female: 90-100 degrees
male: 60-70 degrees
what are the borders of the pelvic outlet? and what structures line the borders? (3)
anterior: pubic arch
posterior: coccyx
lateral: ischial tuberosity
What type of joint is the hip joint?
synovial ball & socket
what bones articulate to make the hip joint?
the femur and the innominate
What actions are preformed at the hip joint? (5)
abduction & adduction, felxion & extension, circumduction
What are the three supporting ligaments of the hip joint?
- iliofemoral ligament
- pubofemoral ligament
- ischiofemoral ligament
what does the iliofemoral ligament do?
- prevents hyperextension
what does the pubofemoral ligament do?
prevents excessive abduction
what does the ischiofemoral ligament do?
prevents hyperextension
