Briefly describe the crime of stalking
A crime of intimidation. A course of conduct directed at a specific person that involves repeated physical or visual proximity, non-consensual communication or threats sufficient to cause fear.
Included under UK “Protection of Freedoms Act 2012”.
Name the 4 typologies of stalkers according to Miller 2012.
- Intimate - most likely violent ex
- Acquaintance - know them but not intimate e.g. work colleague
- Public Figure - never had relationship
- Private Stranger - never met but familiar.
Name the 4 behavioural clusters of stalking.
- Erotomanic
- Love obsessional
- Simple obsessional
- Vengeance
Most at risk = history of violence + threats + rejection.
Name the 3 types of intimate partner violence.
- Generally violent/antisocial = history of violence
- Dysphoric/Borderline = mod=sev violence, emotionally unstable
- Family only = low sev and frequency, irregular, least psychopathology.
Outline the different types of violent crimes in the family.
Domestic violence
Child abuse - neglect, violence, sexual, emotional.
Infanticide - Munchausen syndrome by proxy (make child ill) Shaken baby syndrome (brain damage)

Pet abuse
Name the 3 types of violence
- Instrumental = secondary to other goal
- Reactive = violence precipitated by perceived threat in that situation.
- Expressive = part of pleasure
Name the 3 categories of murder.
Serial Murder - 3 or more over time
Spree - 3 or more in a day but different locations
Mass Murder - 3 or more one location e.g. family.
Name the 4 typologies of serial and mass killing.
- Visionary-Hallucinations - certain group, chaotic crime scene.
- Mission-oriented - group of people eliminated
- Hedonistic
- Power control
