Lecture 4 - How to make a good survey? Flashcards
What do we need to take into account when wanting to develop a good survey?
- our research goals should be clear and established
- population and sampling (should be representative)
- questionnaire design
- review and testing (test design and review)
- implementation and launch
- data analysis and reporting
Why do we need to take into account our research goals?
only ask crucial, related questions to the construct (what we are analysing). Nice to haves will contain noise (and increase drop out rate)
What is a construct?
individual attributes we can break topic of interest into e.g. using something in some seat position or display type / position / angle
What is cognitive pretesting?
ensuring people are interpreting constructs as intended - do they understand the question
-> can be done with think alouds (explain how you see the question) with test participants
How do participants need to be recruited?
from the target population
