A

wound infections (14% of patient deaths with bacteremia, 75% of burn victim deaths)
superficial skin infections (athlete’s foot, bed sores, eczema, hot tub dermatitis)
UTI (complicated- instrumentation)
eye infections (contact lenses)
pneumonia
osteomyolitis
OTIC (ear)- swimmer’s ear

A

UTI- Ciprofloxacin

Other- gentimycin and ticarcillin (synergism)

A

causes whooping cough in kids under 7
spasmodic cough- can lead to lung collapse, death
DTaP vaccine for kids
Tdap vaccine for adolescents
Treat with erythromycin, azithromycin, or clarithromycin
