What is the largest child abuse example?
One of the largest child abuse types is neglect, this could be physical neglect, psychological neglect and environmental neglect.
What is the most affected race in New Zealand with child abuse and what has the child death rate from abuse over time been like?
New Zealand has the third highest child death rate from child abuse and has risen in the past. Maori children are over-represented in poverty statistics and twice as likely as non-maori to be abused or neglected. The largest reason for this discrepancy is the poverty divide between maori and non-maori.
What are some statistics about child abuse?
1/3rd of reported sexual crimes of adults areon children under 12, 2/3rds of all prisoners convictedfor sexual crimes were for child abuse. Abused children tend to drift towards becoming substance abusers and substance abusers are more likely to abuse and neglect their children. Victims of sexualabuse tend to be older than victims of neglect and physical abuse while children which are younger are the majority of deaths (1-3 mainly). In roughly 80% of cases the parents are the abusers (mainly 20-29 year old).
What occurs when the economy gets worse to child abuse?
When the economy suffers child abuse cases tend to increase. Both due to more poverty and less money on protecting children.
What occurs to child abuse with a larger income gap, how does New Zealand relate?
The bigger the income gap the more child abuse that occurs. New Zealands income gap has risen heavily over time.
What are some examples of statistics for children which were abused? How does this change with foster care?
Child abuse increases odds of basically all crimes and lowers GPA, suicide rate also increases. Individuals who have had physical abuse in the past are more likely to have problems like major depression,PTSD and other social problems at ages like 21.
This is the same for sexual abuse.
Abused kids placed in foster care after abuse for a year all are still worse on many measures, this is less bad when in foster care with kin. Even for diagnoses such as allergys and arthritis.
What is shaken baby syndrome?
Shaken baby syndrome occurs becausethe baby has weak neck muscles and a large heavy head, when shaken this leads to the brain bouncing back and forth inside the skull, leading to permanent brain damage or death. Behavioural symptoms include extreme irritability, lethargy, poor feeding. The age is typically less than 2 but can be up to 5. This tends to be worse than accidental brain damage, majority will have mental disabilitys and blindness. There is also typically accompanied abuse and 15-38% of babies will die when this occurs.
What is the child abuse cost in New York?
Child abuse cost for the society in New York is roughly two and a half billion dollars, yet only 100 million is spent on prevention, far less than for diseases which affect far less people. This includes many measures e.g adult criminality, special education due to retardation.
