Lecture 28: Heart Failure 2 Flashcards
Who are sympathomimetics given to?
given via IV to acutely ill patients to increase cardiac contractility ( short term )
What does Thiazide do?
mild HF
what does Loop do?
Edema of lungs and limbs
What does PS do?
Correct erectrolyte imbalance
What are responsible for cardiac remodeling?
Aldosterone, norepinephrine and angiotensin 2
What do beta blockers do in heart failure?
Decrease remodeling, decrease heart rate + O2 needed
How do sympathomimetics function?
Via increasing cAMP to thus increase intracellular calcium
What are the 2 sympathomimetics?
Dopamine and Dobutamine
What are the 2 phosphodiesterase inhibitors?
Milrinone and Enoximone
What is loop diuretics given to treat?
Lung edema
What is thiazide for?
To decrease pre load
